What is the oldest anime?

The oldest anime may have been aired from as early as 1907. Known as "Activity Photo" (Katsudō Shashin), from its depiction of a boy in a sailor suit drawing the characters for katsudō shashin, this film was recorded in 2005. It consists of fifty frames stencilled directly onto a strip of celluloid.although it's not confirmed to be the oldest anime it might only be a false record, but this is by far the oldest anime recorded . As there is no record of any other anime recorded before 1917 , there is a possibility that there might be more anime aired before "Activity Photo" and that there is no known records .

How was the idea of anime found ?

Anime history can be traced back at the start of the 20th century, Even Before the the arrival of films,Japan already had a unique type of entertainment with colourful painted figures moving across the projection screen in a particular Japanese type of magic lantern show.

Which was popular in the 19th century. Although it's not confirmed but there is a Possiblity that it was inspired by European phantasmagoria shows, utushi-e showmen used mechanical slides and developed as lightweight wooden projectors (furo) that were holded in hand so that several performers could each control the motions of different projected figures

Ōten Shimokawa, Jun'ichi Kōuchi and Seitaro Kitayama was the first first generation of animation they are also referred as the "fathers" of anime. Propaganda films, such as Momotarō no Umiwashi (rilazed in 1943) and Momotarō: Umi no Shinpei (which was aired in 1945), umi no shinoei was the first anime featured film, you know what it were made during World War II.

Anime developed further and was improving, And they were able to improve even quickly with the inspiration they get from Disney animators, they wanted anime to be more then just a copy of western styled animation they wanted it to be unique, and so they developed distinct genres which was not famous in West such as mecha and its super robot subgenre. Typical shows from that period include Astro Boy, Lupin III and Mazinger Z. During this time several animator became very well known for their work , especially Mamoru Oshii and Hayao Miyazaki .
