Why Did Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Become So Popular?

JoJo’s popularity did not came from nowhere, Over 100 million manga copies has been sold and its one of the best selling manga of all time. Most of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure series has not been made available outside of Japan due to licencing issues. During the time of ’80s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure was not the popular manga in Japan when compared to Dragonball during. There's usually an anime running alongside, normally when a manga does well. This was, something JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure never got, Back in 1993 it received a short OVA. The 13-episode OVA adaptation wasn't going, it skipped Part 1 and 2, skipping most of the back-story, and it also left out most of Part 3. The Animation has low quality and the voice acting was very terrible. 2007 adaptation of the manga’s first story arc, (Phantom Blood), was released in Japan But it was never released on any home media. Few more years later, the manga was moved to Seinin instead of Shonen so the creator Hirohiko Araki could study more adult concepts and focus on his art, he changed his pattern from weekly to monthly. During this time the popularity of JoJo’s pretty much stayed the same until 2012 ! At a press conference celebrating the 25th anniversary of the series, a brand new anime adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure was announced. The newly announced anime was not only bursting with charm but was faithful as well. Although the story might have been more than 30 years old at this point, the pace and art style of the anime made it feel far more modern than it actually was.
